Amalfi Coast - Where will you go?

It’s mid-June and that means Europe’s summer holiday season is well and truly underway. Whether you’re still waiting to book your 2018 summer getaway (hello spontaneity-enthusiasts!) or already thinking of booking next year’s break, we are always ready to offer the inspiration you need to choose your destination!

The Amalfi Coast in Italy is one of Europe’s top spots, and it’s not hard to see why…Stunning beaches, gorgeous scenery, picturesque towns with fascinating history, and of course natural beauty that can be enjoyed through hiking trails and leisurely strolls.

Here are our top tips for a visit to La Costiera.

Visit Salerno
Salerno is by far the largest town on the coast. It has great transport links to Rome and Naples, both of which have major airports accessible from destinations across the globe. A stroll through the narrow, cobbled streets of the centro storico (old town) reveals beautiful architecture and excellent restaurants. Elsewhere, the downtown area is bustling with bars and clubs, and the gorgeous beaches are ideal for family fun – something for everyone!

Take a boat to the island of Capri
The port and harbour at Salerno, and indeed in other towns along the mainland coast, make for easy access to Capri – a spectacular, even magical, island off the western edge of the Amalfi Coast. With its stunning views, beautiful beaches, Blue Cave Grotto, boutique shops, exquisite restaurants and unique mix of age-old charm (Rossellini’s 1954 classic, Journey to Italy, captures this!) and modern luxury, it is not hard to see why people visit here from afar.

Relax on beaches of Maiori
If you need a break from the relative razzmatazz of places like Salerno, Capri and Sorrento (which is also well worth a visit), then a day trip to the neighbouring towns of Maiori or Minori would certainly fit the bill. The golden, sandy beaches and clear Mediterranean waters along Maiori’s coastline are considered the best in the region - perfect for unwinding!

Wine and dine in Positano
Perhaps best known for its pastel-coloured mountainside houses, the village of Positano is also a hub of fine dining, with Michelin-starred restaurants dotting this picturesque corner of the coast. Ristorante La Sponda in particular is a true gastronomic delight.

Take in the Waterfalls at Valle delle Ferriere
And now for something completely different….A protected area in the province of Salerno, Ferriere Valley is perfect for those who enjoy an outdoor exhibition in the form of hiking or cycling. This part of the world is not renowned for its forestry, but you will struggle to find a more magnificent setting than here.
