Our latest villa addition is the large but perfectly
positioned Villa Prima on the island of Mykonos. It sleeps as many as 20 persons
across 11 bedrooms, meaning you either need a lot of friends or possibly might
select this villa for a multi generational stay (to you and me, that means
taking the kids and the grandparents)!
There are gorgeous sea views – a proper wow factor of the property – but we
particularly like the proximity of the nearby beaches (Loulos and Kalo Livadi).
The price tag gives an indication of the quality, but no one said luxury comes
cheaply. A week in August is £39,996.
Mykonos is a vibrant, cosmopolitan island – well known for
its nightlife. In the heart of the Cyclades, legend has it that the island was
formed from the petrified bodies of giants slain by Hercules, whilst the name
itself is rumoured to be that of the grandson of Apollo.
Our favourite pastimes (getting back to the fun part) are
dominated by watersports. There are
plenty of beaches to windsurf from and if you aren’t a pro, there are lessons
available, sea parachuting and jet skiing are also options. If you are a little
more Jacques Cousteau, there are plenty of dive centres (some also offer
snorkelling lessons); September is one of the best months when visibility is
good at seabed level.
The island also has plenty of secluded coves; why not
hire a boat and go exploring? For the intrepid seafarer is the isle of Delos –
a short boat trip will bring you to this historic gem where ruins, fine mosaics
and temples wait to be explored.
