Modern holiday villas on the Algarve

The factual part…

Served by Faro airport the Algarve is a vibrant and popular resort. The temperature fluctuates between 25 and 40+ degrees with any time from April to October likely to offer good weather conditions. A quick look on recent temperature records show the Algarve hit a heady 44.4 celsius back in 2004, definitely a case of lathering on the factor 50!

This part of Portugal can be best imagined divided into three: a western part, where rugged coastline, winds and authentic Portugal awaits in resorts like Sagres and Portimao, a central area dominated by Albufeira, Vilamoura, Vale do Lobo, Quinta do Lago and of course Faro, whilst to the right is an eastern area comprising lesser known Tavira and Olhao. We are fans of the middle part especially, packed with golf courses, sandy beaches, trendy restaurants and bars.

The fun part…

Measuring only 160 kms x 50 kms, the Algarve is filled with a variety of treasures – long sandy blue flag beaches, hidden coves, beach bars and water sports mean all the family are taken care of. If you like golf, take your pick from classics like Oceanico Millenium in Vilamoura, Laranjal in Quinta do Lago, Laguna (Vilamoura), Salgados in Albufeira or Ocean Golf in Vale do Lobo (to name a few…)

For meals out, try Bovino in Quinta (for steaks), Casa do Lago for seafood or Pure for its desserts (also a great spot for watching over the golf). In Vale do Lobo enjoy a mixture of cuisines from Asian to French or pop into one of the many beachside bars like Breeze Papagaio or why not enjoy a crepe in La Creperie Café? Nightlife reigns supreme at Gecko Club in Vale do Lobo, ‘The Strip’ in Albufeira, Kadoc in Vilamoura or Blackjack disco.
