Bitesize guide to Porto Heli

Situated to the east of the Peloponnese, Porto Heli is a pretty seaside town with a large port, sometimes called the Greek Riviera – find yachts at anchor and fishing boats plying their trade throughout the year in a convivial maritime atmosphere.

It’s a popular spot, often visited by holidaymakers from Athens (as Greeks, knowing which are the best islands to visit!) as well as Brits in the summer months. Its also a handy spot to get to Spetses island (from the port of Costa).

What to expect in the way of beaches: crystal clear water and white sand…we say beautiful. Choose from Porto Heli beach itself, Ververonta (a few beach bars on site for refreshment), Hinitsa and Kounoupi.

How will you spend your nights out? Our favourite suggestion is to dine on the freshest fish at one of the tavernas, followed by dancing till dawn, maybe on the tables!

Visit Kranidi town, perched on a rocky hilltop, surrounded by pine forest and enjoy neoclassical buildings, narrow cobbled streets and experience traditional Greek life away from tourism and infrastructure.

For something different, be there when the Spetses min marathon takes place! The run goes past historical landmarks and includes a swim of the channel from Porto Heli to Spetses itself. It may even inspire you to take part!
