Your winter escape : Marbella

With the shelter of the high peaks of Sierra Blanca behind it, the climate of Marbella is fair at any time of year but in particular, stands out as a perfect winter escape.

Weather wise, expect a spot of rain in winter but this soon passes and gives way to an average five to six hours of sun per day. At other times, May for example sees an average seven hours sun a day, as does October with temperatures regularly reaching to the high 70’s.

With the bulk of the tourists out of action at these mellow times of the year, it’s a chance to wander into popular restaurants without a reservation, to enjoy uncrowded beaches or simply play an unhurried round of golf, go fishing, walking or horse riding.

For those looking to squeeze in a little culture, Andalucia is a great option. Life goes on in winter much as it does at other times of year, so prime your camera and visit gems like Mijas, the Alhambra Palace in Granada or the Mezquita cathedral in Cordoba at your leisure.

Skiing…well, If you did Klosters last year but didn’t fancy it this year, why not hop up onto the slopes above Granada – the second highest mountain range in Europe and get some practise in? The Sol y Nieve ski station is half an hour by car from Granada – experience world class ski and snowboarding, then the next day be back on the beach!

In terms of villas, we have a top selection available at 360 Private Villas. Our inkling though is to propose those with an indoor pool and spa area. You can easily fill an enjoyable week in luxury with days out to Puerto Banus, the beaches, sightseeing, ski if so inclined and then dine to your hearts content as the locals do, before retiring to your opulent holiday villa. A great way to avoid a cold winter and recharge your batteries.
