Our current winter is decidedly mild and despite my own
personal misgivings about welcoming in the weather (cue frozen windscreens,
sleet, sodden feet and other miserable additions that make us realise our
summers aren’t so bad after all), there is still something special and quite
romantic when snow is involved.
With such desires in mind, intrepid traveller Kellie
recently popped out to site-test some of our winter product with a trip to
Finnish Lapland and Iceland.
In Kellies own words :
“Iceland is truly stunning with its extraordinary scenery of volcanoes,
geysers, geothermal pools and a strong chance of seeing the Northern Lights.
The capital, Reykjavik is a very cool destination with lively restaurants,
bars, shopping and culture. It is easy to get around with most historical spots
within walking distance and is clean and safe.
Heading out of the capital there are amazing adventures
waiting for you. From glacier walking to whale watching there are awesome views
and Iceland’s natural drama to experience.
Winter days in Lapland may be short, but they are certainly
merry and bright. It has regularly been compared to Narnia. A magical place
where your days are filled with walking, husky-sledding and snowmobiling in a
Finnish winter wonderland. One of our favourite destinations is the Igloo
Village of Levi Fell, where you can lie back cosily in your glass igloo and look
at the stars, and if you are lucky the Northern Lights.”
Kellie – we salute you for taking the task on and are glad
you enjoyed it!
